Having been led by the Holy Spirit to Worship in the Charlestown area, a small group of members from Lyons Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville, KY began to search for a place to begin services. Brother Roger Galloway, also seeing the need, helped lead the way to begin the work. The Lord moved in mighty ways to open doors, and our current building, fully furnished, was made available at no charge. On October 6, 1996, under the authority of Lyons Missionary Baptist Church, services began as Unity Missionary Baptist Mission.
After meeting for about a year, some in the community along with the mission members from Lyons felt the leadership of the Lord again and Unity was organized into an Old Fashioned Baptist Church. Unity was organized into Unity Missionary Baptist Church in July 1997.
By Old Fashioned, we refer to keeping the worship and operation of the Lord's Church in the same manner as practiced when Jesus began His Church and authorized it to preach unto all nations. While using available modern methods to aid in the work, we strive not to interfere with the change brought about in man by Jesus Christ through his Holy Spirit. We believe Christ is completely capable to reach the heart of man, save him & assure him of eternal life.
